Salzgitter Group boosting presence vis-à-vis EU institutions

The Salzgitter Group is now strengthening its Brussels presence. To this end, the field office in the EU capital in the immediate vicinity of the Lower Saxony State Representation has been reorganized with Philipp Tschinke and Frederik Grüß. The Brussels office is part of the Public & Regulatory Affairs (PRA) department under the auspices of Alexander Heck. The aim is to position Salzgitter AG as a reliable interlocutor in political matters relevant to the Group's strategy.
 
As Philipp Tschinke outlined the reasons for the increased involvement on location: "The major share of the laws and regulations of significance for Salzgitter AG are negotiated and decided by EU institutions. Consequently, it is therefore crucial to be continuously represented in Brussels and to become involved in the political debates at an early stage."
 
Alexander Heck cites the EU climate targets as an example: "The European Union has committed to becoming climate neutral by 2050 at the latest. In Brussels, Salzgitter AG is perceived as a pioneer on the course to achieving climate-neutral EU steel production with its SALCOS^® - Salzgitter Low CO₂ Steelmaking decarbonization project. The task now is to continue together on the challenging path towards establishing internationally competitive framework conditions in constructive dialogs with decision-makers from the European Commission, the EU Councils of Ministers and the European Parliament."
 
Philipp Tschinke (31) and Frederik Grüß (29) both studied political science. From 2017 to 2020 he was already employed at Salzgitter AG as an officer in the Executive Board Office & Corporate Affairs department. After a stint in the European Parliament, he returned to the Salzgitter Group in October 2022 as Head of the Brussels Office.
