Half way through the trade fair in Hanover – Salzgitter Group in dialog with its partners

01.06.2022 | Salzgitter AG

“A trade fair at last!” – an exclamation of relief often heard at the moment throughout the halls in Hanover. The sentiment it expresses describes the feeling after two years of no face-to-face meetings, no events happening, and no discussions and dialogs revolving around the vital topics in the international industrial arena.

“Home of Industrial Pioneers” is the motto of this year’s trade fair. The motto fits as if it were made to measure for the Salzgitter Group as a pioneer in the process of transforming the steel industry into virtually carbon-neutral steel production under the SALCOS® - SAlzgitter Low CO2Steelmaking program.

“Pioneering for Circular Solutions” is therefore the Salzgitter Group’s choice of slogan for its presence at the Hanover Trade Fair, Hall 3, Stand H28. “We are pursuing the new ‘Salzgitter AG 2030’ strategy with this slogan. Under this strategy, we are aiming to evolve into the strongest steel and technology group in the circular economy, together with our partners,” explains Thorsten Möllmann, Head of Corporate Communication.

The concept is a resounding success as evidenced by the keen interest of the public at large, trade fair visitors, along with political decision-makers and representatives of the media participating in the various events at the trade fair stand, such as the “Niedersachsenabend” of the Entrepreneurial Associations of Lower Saxony, CEO Gunnar Groebler’s walkabout with media representatives, and the high footfall at the stand during guided tours of the trade fair.

“We are showcasing ourselves here as a good host, as we have a great deal to offer in terms of the topics,” explains Frank Seinsche who is in charge of the Group’s trade fair participations. SALCOS® can be experienced first-hand and close up, along with the conversion of the steelworks site, in a Cave (in a special room projecting virtual reality): here, the new electrolysis installations for hydrogen production, direct reduction plants more than 100 meters high, and electric arc furnaces all become a virtual reality and visualize the dimensions of the transformation.
