JANUARY
Salzgitter AG and the Technische Universität Braun- schweig introduce a joint project to construct a hydro- electric power plant for research purposes at the Aller weir in Bannetze-Hornbostel. e objective is to prove the technical feasibility of this hydropower technology, which is unique in the world.
FEBRUARY
e Salzgitter Group receives orders from Open Grid Europe GmbH for 70,000 tons of spiral- ly-welded large-diameter pipes. e three projects serve to extend the natural gas grid in south-
ern and western Germany. e orders are booked by the Group’s subsidiary Salzgitter Mannesmann Großrohr GmbH and are to be produced in Salzgitter.
MARCH
e EUROPIPE GmbH holding company receives an order to deliver large-diameter pipes for lines 3 and 4 of the Baltic Sea Pipeline.
e Executive Board presents the annual report for 2015 at the nancial statement press conference on March 18, 2016. e board then conducts talks with representatives from the capital market at well-attended analyst confer- ences in Frankfurt am Main and London.
APRIL
In its meeting on March 17, 2016, the Salzgitter AG Supervisory Board elects Heinz-Gerhard Wente as the new chair.
His term begins on April 1. He succeeds Rainer ieme, who served as Supervisory Board Chair starting on April 1, 2007.
Heinz-Gerhard Wente was born in Nettelrede, Lower Saxony, on April 23, 1951. He worked in industrial engineering, operational controlling and various management functions at the present-day ContiTech AG. Starting in October 2008, he managed the ContiTech division. In May 2007, he joined the Continental AG Executive Board. One major challenge was the integration of Siemens VDO Automotive AG (a Mannesmann AG subsidiary until 2001) into the Conti Group in 2007. Wente retired in April 2015
e Salzgitter Group is represented at three important trade fairs: the TUBE in Düsseldorf, the BAU- MA in Munich and the Hannover Messe.
Salzgitter companies deliver 71,000 tons of large-diameter pipes for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and 132,000 tons for the Zohr gas eld o the Egyptian Mediterranean coastline.
