Ambitious construction project at Mannesmann Precision Tubes’ Mexican location

an investment volume of around € 29 mil- lion, an additional production line was added to the plant in Guadalajara, Mexi- co. This ambitious project was referred to as “Step 3” at the Mexican MPT site. The new build is intended to incrementally increase the capacity of the plant.

STRIP STEEL Salzgitter AG has committed an investment in the single-digit million euro range to its subsidiary to extend the capacity of a welding unit and modernize the forging facility. The welding system helps con- serve resources, as energy consumption per welding seam is reduced. Moreover, logistics process were also optimized
as part of the project. Thanks to the newly installed straightening unit, high- strength material with up to 1,400 MPa is processed in line with the stringent, high quality demands. Salzgitter Euro- platinen GmbH employs around 120 members of staff, and has been supplying the German and European automotive industry for 20 years.

A joint German-Mexican team man-
aged the entire project. Although the bulk of the planning work took place in Germany, all Mexican requirements were also taken into account throughout. This international collaboration encompassed weekly telephone conferences with all team members. Video conferences and personal meetings with suppliers and colleagues were also held as part of the project.
