Material data for simulation purposes – database expanded

From fenders to furniture fittings and even gas bottles, no component or structural design process is nowadays complete without virtualization. But regardless of the software employed, if the design is to be successful, it is of paramount importance to have the appropriate material data on hand.

Salzgitter-Flachstahl GmbH and Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH have for some years now been supporting their customers by making the right material data available. The grades of steel characterized in accordance with the SEP1240 steel and iron testing guidelines are representative of the SZFG product range, and the data can be downloaded free of charge from the online COMDAS material database.

COMDaS stands for Customer Online Material Data System and is available at www.comdas-online.de. Following a free, one-time registration the database provides access to the results of multiple trials (tensile tests, chemical analyses, forming limit diagrams, etc.).
Program-specific material cards are also available to suit current simulation software (AutoForm, PamStamp, PamCrash, LS-Dyna), along with comprehensive datasheets.

The database has meanwhile been expanded to include additional materials as per VDA239 and will continue to be supplemented in the coming years with further new material grades. If the material you are looking for is not available, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail at werkstoffkennwerte@salzgitter-ag.com.
