Industrial Participations
The Group continues to own a number of companies whose offerings concentrate first and foremost on the Group's requirements. In addition, a number of companies also offer their services to external customers.
Industrial Participations/Consolidation comprises those companies consolidated within the Salzgitter Group which are not assigned to a specific business unit. This largely relates to service companies which focus on providing services internally in the Salzgitter Group. Over and above these activities, our subsidiaries also offer their service range to external customers.
The services segment encompasses Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter GmbH, which is one of Germany’s larger railway companies in terms of freight volume, as well as a majority participation in Hansaport, Germany’s largest port for bulk goods in Hamburg.
In addition, this area also includes Salzgitter Automotive Engineering GmbH (SZAE) and Salzgitter Hydroforming GmbH (SZHF) – two highly innovative specialists serving the automobile industry. While SZAE focuses on prototypes and small series production, SZHF produces automobile parts from hydroformed tubes.
Our Group IT companies TELCAT GmbH and Salzgitter Digital Solutions GmbH as well as our research and development company Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH round out the services portfolio of Industrial Participations/Consolidation.
The participation in Europe’s largest copper producer Aurubis AG, which was acquired in 2008, is also grouped within this area. More information on Aurubis AG is available on the company’s website.
