A pioneer of the circular economy: Salzgitter Group to exhibit at the Hannover Messe

09.04.2024 | Salzgitter AG

  • “A New Thinking for a New Industry - #wemakeithappen”
  • The SALCOS® green steel brand for low-CO2 products
  • New location with companies from the hydrogen and fuel cell industry in Hall 13

Salzgitter AG will be an exhibitor at the Hannover Messe from April 22 to 26, 2024. The company’s trade fair motto – “A New Thinking for a New Industry - #wemakeithappen” – underscores its leading role in promoting the circular economy and a sustainable economic transition.
At the Hannover Messe, the company will also showcase its new in-house brand for green steel – SALCOS® – to its partners and the public. By implementing the eponymous SALCOS® transformation program, the Salzgitter Group is progressively converting its steel manufacturing activities to hydrogen-based processes with the aim of achieving almost fully CO2-free steel production. In the future, the Group will be using the SALCOS® brand name to distribute green steel products that correspond to defined criteria, such as an ambitious physical reduction in CO2 emissions. The SALCOS® brand is therefore closely aligned with the classification scheme put forward by the German Steel Federation (WV Stahl) to support the establishment of lead markets for climate-friendly products.
At this year’s Hannover Messe, Salzgitter AG will be located in Hall 13 for the first time, alongside stands hosted by companies in the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. “Steel is of decisive importance to the emerging hydrogen infrastructure.
We’re making that clear through our change in location,” explained Frank Seinsche, who oversees the Salzgitter Group’s trade fair activities. “In addition, hydrogen has a crucial role to play in the decarbonization of industrial processes, including in the steel industry.”
For the Salzgitter Group, the Hannover Messe presents an ideal platform to engage in dialogue with partners, political actors and the wider public.
