Healthy and safe: Health Day in Peine focuses on prevention and screening

On July 07, numerous employees of Peiner Träger GmbH (PTG), DEUMU Deutsche Erz- und Metall-Union GmbH and Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel GmbH took the opportunity to go for a thorough check-up as part of the Health Day – as well as refreshing their know-how in the areas of occupational safety and accident prevention.

The focus of PTG's action day was on interactive workshops and service offerings on occupational safety topics, which were implemented in close cooperation with DEUMU and external partners.

Training in the use of personal protective equipment sharpened the awareness of production-related risks and further deepened the respective understanding through practical exercises. As head of occupational safety, Frank Eggert deals with the correct use of personal protective equipment and accident prevention on a daily basis. He perceives the health day as a significant event to continuously promote mindfulness among employees: "Our focus is on 100% safe actions and we want to actively involve all employees in further developing our safety culture so as to reduce accidents. The Health Day provides the perfect platform to further raise employee awareness of occupational health and safety issues in line with our initiative."

An additional focus was on preventive medical care. In order to identify potential health risks at an early stage, the participants were examined in detail in the course of the Body Check Up and informed about the results and possible measures in a subsequent consultation. The skin cancer screening was particularly well received. In this context, skin was examined for changes and participants informed of any abnormalities.

DanTrim GmbH offers employees at the Peine site the opportunity to actively promote their own well-being and health through various fitness courses and a fitness room. In the course of the health day, information was provided about the current courses and preventive health measures were presented.

A DKMS registration drive featured as another highlight of the Health Day. PTG enabled all participating employees to register as potential stem cell donors and thereby actively help in the fight against leukemia and blood cancer.

Employees showed tremendous interest - the action areas and workshops were well attended and the preventive care appointments fully booked. Consequently, Managing Director Human Resources and Labor Director Beatrice Fiege came to decidedly positive conclusions: "Healthy employees are the foundation of our success. By being mindful of each individual and offering targeted preventive care, we are laying the foundation for a safe and productive future. I am therefore delighted that so many employees took advantage of the health day's offerings and would like to express my sincere thanks to all the people whose contributions made the event possible."

After the conclusion of the health day, the annual summer shutdown was accompanied in a convivial atmosphere. Here, too, thanks to the active support of colleagues from DEUMU, some attractive offerings were put in place. With typical German grilled sausages, music and cool beverages, management thanked our staff for their valuable contributions in the first half of the year.
