Salzgitter opts for interactive ideas in Hanover

Under the motto of “How Steel Works”, Salzgitter AG will be presenting an interactive industry environment at IdeenExpo showcasing a wide range of different production processes in model form. Supported by film footage, visitors are given an insight into how steel is actually produced and processed.

“Just give it a go” – this is the motto of this year’s IdeenExpo from June 10 to 18. The Salzgitter Group is once again one of the largest exhibitors and sponsors of the event and offers many opportunities on 500 square meters of exhibition space to children and young people of getting to know about steel as a material and also about other areas of the Group.

The Group’s Technology Business Unit, for instance, is represented again by KHS GmbH, a leading international provider of filling and packaging solutions for glass and PET bottles, kegs and cans. Demonstrations are run to show how a small plastic blank is turned into a PET bottle and printed.

The Salzgitter IdeenExpo classic – the rose made of steel – will be made directly at the stand and not in one of the workshops.

“Experience in recent years has shown that children and young people are just dying to have a go or even make things themselves. This is why the interactive idea formed the centerpiece of the Ideen-Expo concept right from the start,” explains Beate Schäfer, head of personnel at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. The concept of having young visitors supported by trainees works extremely well and alleviates any potential reservations or fear of contact.

Participation in IdeenExpo is also a valuable experience for the trainees with a big impact. It unites them as a team of a large corporation and opens up new career prospects for them within the company.
