Salzgitter subsidiary DESMA Schuhmaschinen celebrates its anniversary

700 guests from six continents participate in DESMA’s house fair
 
DESMA’s house fair took place on September 15 and 16, 2016 in Achim near Bremen, Germany – a particularly special event this time, as DESMA Schuhmaschinen GmbH used the exhibition to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary.
 
Customers, partners and friends and their companions accepted the invitation and used the exhibition to inform themselves about the latest technologies in industrial shoe manufacturing and to exchange thoughts and ideas with acclaimed experts in presentations, production demos and discussions. Large groups of very different shoe manufacturers, including adidas, Birkenstock, Lloyd, PouChen, Henan Prosper and many many more were given practical demonstrations of the technologies and obtained information on the future of shoe manufacturing - with live experience of how Industry 4.0 is taking shoe manufacturing by storm with the production of the “WrapNX” shoe concept. Here, DESMA been working for many years on interesting solutions involving the topic of digital connectivity, data management and automation in production.
 
In addition, 49 partners and suppliers in the business of cutting-edge shoe manufacturing had the opportunity of presenting themselves and their products to the many visitors.
 
“This close collaboration between suppliers, developers, engineers, sales and production teams has always paved the way for our success”, states Klaus Freese, DESMA’s general manager. Richard Fumy, responsible at Fürther-based uvex for safety footwear, can only affirm this: “We have been working together as companies for more than 30 years. DESMA is exceptionally customer oriented, both in terms of execution and in innovation. We at uvex conferred the special ‘Proud People Award’ prize on DESMA. This is a prize that is very seldomly awarded. It is an outward expression of our trust and respect for DESMA and its employees”.
 
With its workforce of around 230 employees, DESMA Schuhmaschinen GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, today develops and manufactures direct soling facilities, soling and boot machines, including molds, as well as full-line automation solutions for the various production processes in industrial shoe manufacturing.
