Order Placed for Modernization of Rolling Mill Capital Expenditure 17.5 Million Euros HSP Hoesch Spundwand und Profil GmbH (HSP) just placed an order worth 17.5 million euros for the modernization of its rolling mill in Dortmund. The project comprises the construction of a fourth and fifth rolling stand as well as the reconditioning of the existing three stands.

Commissioning is scheduled for 2002. The supplier of the equipment, SMS DEMAG AG, has considerable worldwide expertise in the sector of heavy rolling mill technology.

This investment already envisioned at the time of Salzgitter AGs acquisition of HSP will enable the company to continue following the market trend towards heavier sheet piling. During the last two fiscal years, the company began modernizing its plant and equipment including an extensive expansion of its manufacturing program.

After the previous investments in a new warehouse for semi-material, a continuous finishing shop and two new straightening machines, this major capital expenditure now completes an investment program giving HSP a vital competitive edge.

The company operates a heavy rolling mill in Dortmund producing sheet piling, mining sections, shipbuilding and special sections. These products are sold predominantly in the EU-market. During the last fiscal year, the companys sales amounted to 123 million euros.
