8th International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in Braunschweig

The eighth international wheelchair basketball tournament of the Rolling Lions of MTV Braunschweig took place on 8 June 2024 in the Franzsches Feld sports hall.

The tournament was opened by the Braunschweig city councillor responsible for sports, Holger Herlitschke. Teams from Braunschweig, Odense (Denmark), Kiel, Leipzig and Hannover competed for the ‘cup’ – a magnum bottle of sparkling wine.
 

All visitors had the opportunity to try throwing a ball while sitting in a wheelchair.

A total of 10 games were played, each lasting 2 x 12 minutes. The Odense Hawks took first place with an impressive result of +98 points. The Kiel Wheelers secured second place ahead of the Rising Tigers from Leipzig, who came in third. The Rolling Lions from Braunschweig took fourth place ahead of the Hannover United team.
 

The evening was rounded off with a barbecue in a relaxed atmosphere.

The 9th International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament will take place on 24 May 2025.
