Salzgitter AG Raises Dividend by 5 Percent

In view of the very satisfactory result for the fiscal year 1999/2000 ending on September 30, 2000, the Exekutive Board of Salzgitter AG will recommend to the Supervisory Board in Ist meeting on January 18, 2001, to approve a dividend proposal to the Annual Shareholders' Meeting of 0.40 euro per ordinary share. Domestic taxpayers will additionally receive a tax credit of 0.17 euro per share. The proposed distribution is thus amounting to an increase of 5 percent compared with the previous year.

The Executive Board is confident to be in a position to distribute a dividend for the short fiscal year from October 1 to December 31, 2000, adopted by the Annual Shareholders' Meeting on December 20, 2000, which will proportionately at least correspond to the distribution for the fiscal year 1999/2000.
