Salzgitter AG wins Red Dot Awards

  • Design awards in the “Brands” and “Communication Design” categories
  • New corporate design supports “Salzgitter AG 2030” group strategy
  • Close collaboration with the PierraaGroup

The Salzgitter Group and PierraaGroup have received two Red Dot Awards in the "Brands“ and “Communication Design” categories. The announcement was made by the international jury at the prize awarding ceremony in Berlin on Friday. These awards are bestowed in acknowlegement of high-quality design, and are regarded in the creative sector as a coveted international seal of quality with huge charisma.
 
In the spring of this year, the Salzgitter Group - under the leadership of CEO Gunnar Groebler - presented its new “Salzgitter AG 2030” strategy with an emphasis on the circular economy. The introduction was accompanied by an extensive, tightly planned Group-wide, cross-media brand relaunch that was conceived and realized by the Braunschweig-based PierraaGroup. Their intensive cooperation produced a brand image that the Red Dot jury and Professor Dr. Zec, CEO of Red Dot, found convincing: “To dare to undertake a rebranding speaks always to the strength and courage of a brand. The Red Dot jury has duly rewarded this step by Salzgitter AG: Their creative yet consistent approach has earned them two Red Dot Awards, for Brands and Communication Design. I heartily congratulate them on this achievement.”
 
The key elements of the Salzgitter Group strategy are now reflected in the Group’s corporate design. The new brand speaks to both the vision and mission of the Group, as well as to the key issue of circularity in all areas. It comprehensively visualizes values and strategy and in so doing presents a well-thought-out, uniform image that serves as a model both internally and externally.

As Thorsten Möllmann, Head of Communication & Brand at Salzgitter AG, stated: “We are delighted to receive these awards which confirm both our own aspirations to quality as well as the public image we aspire to. Salzgitter AG and the PierraaGroup received the Red Dot Design Awards in the “Brands” category for the brand as a whole and in the “Communication Design” category for the transfer of this new brand world through both analog and digital communication channels and initiatives.

The Red Dot Award

The Red Dot Award is one of the best-known international design contests, while the eponymous “Red Dot” has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted seals of quality for good design. In 2022, more than 9,000 agencies, designers and companies from around 50 countries submitted examples of communication design in the Brands and Communication Design category. In adherence to our guiding principle “in search of good design and creativity”, the 24 international members of the Red Dot jury have professionally and individually examined every project and every brand submitted.
